In the same context, Al-Watan daily said that in continuation of the Israeli provocations, about a thousand colonists stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police, where they desecrated the courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals in an unprecedented scene of storming. The State of Qatar condemned in the strongest terms the storming of the courtyards of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by two ministers in the Israeli occupation government, members of the Knesset and hundreds of settlers and the imposition of restrictions on the entry of worshipers, and termed them as provocative acts and a flagrant violation of international law and the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, the paper said. Al-Watan stressed that these repeated incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque represent a violation of the historical and legal status quo in the city of Jerusalem, and an intervention within the framework of a systematic Israeli policy of temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa Mosque, in addition to stirring up religious sentiments and provoking Muslims. The paper considered that these incursions come within the framework of the ongoing targeting of Jerusalem and its Christian and Islamic sanctities, and as a prelude to imposing complete control over it and Judaizing it, which constitutes a violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions, including UNESCO resolutions. In conclusion, Al-Watan called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the suffering of the Palestinian people in general, and Jerusalem and its holy sites in particular, as they are an integral part of the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.
