Chiayi County: An earthquake measuring 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Thursday Chiayi County in Taiwan.
According to Qatar News Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) said in a statement that the earthquake’s epicenter, which occurred at a depth of 10 km, was monitored at 23.25 degrees north latitude and 120.57 degrees east longitude.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage from the earthquake.
Taiwan is located near the intersection of two tectonic plates at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, which makes it prone to regular earthquakes.
