A meeting of delegates and senior officials held in Jeddah to prepare for the Arab Summit

For the third day in a row of preparatory meetings for the Arab Summit, a meeting of delegates and senior officials took place today in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

At the beginning of the session, the Algerian Ambassador in Cairo, Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hamid Shabira, renewed in his speech his welcome to the presence of the Syrian delegation in these meetings, stressing the need for unity and solidarity among the Arab countries.

Shabirah said: We meet today in light of the dangerous developments the Palestinian arena is going through as a result of the occupation forces’ attacks on the Palestinian people, stressing the need for the international community and the United Nations to take urgent action to protect the Palestinian people.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs for International Affairs, Ambassador Abd al-Rahman Ibrahim al-Rusi, said in a speech after assuming the presidency of the meeting of delegates and senior officials: We welcome the Syrian delegation participating in the meeting and wish them every success, stressing that Saudi Arabia extended its hand to the brothers believing in the importance of joint Arab action and will continue to work to follow up n this. The matter is to complete the march of the Arab League.

This was followed by a closed working session to discuss the draft agenda of the summit and draft resolutions for the items included in the draft agenda of the summit./ End
