A delegation from the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, ADFCA, headed by Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of ADFCA, is visiting Sudan to inspect ongoing UAE projects.
The Emirati company, Amtaar, held a reception on the occasion of the delegation’s visit. It was attended by Rahma Fadhel Al Shamsi, Charge d’affaires of the UAE Mission in Khartoum; Mohamed Rashid Al Otaiba, Chairman of Jenaan Investments; Dr. Osama Faisal, State Minister of the Ministry of Investment in Sudan, and Ali Al-Awad, Governor of the Northern State.
Al Otaiba said in a speech during the ceremony that the goal of the visit is to identify the available investment opportunities in Sudan, considering the depth of relations between both countries, which were established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and is witnessing continuing development today under President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He pointed out that Amtaar company is planning a strategic project to plant one million palm trees in the Northern State, in addition to the productive villages project in different states in Sudan, at a cost of US$500 million.
He noted that this expansion in the company’s projects is proof that the investment atmosphere in Sudan is constantly improving.
Al Otaiba announced the company’s donation of 2,500 palm tree saplings, worth US$75 million, to five Sudanese states.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Faisal praised the UAE investments in his country and the continuous support of the UAE to Sudan, along with the investment initiatives it executes in the different Sudanese states.
The ADFCA delegation also visited the Amtaar project in the Northern State, as well as a number of projects in the White Nile State. They plan to sign several agreements in the field of food investment with Sudanese and Emirati companies.
