Al Raya Highlights Qatar’s Leadership in Empowering People with Disability

Al Raya: Al Raya newspaper affirmed the State of Qatar’s continued commitment to promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, highlighting the country’s active participation in the Third Global Disability Summit in Berlin to support disability issues and promote their inclusion in society, with the aim of exchanging expertise with international and regional organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, in its editorial today, the newspaper said that the State of Qatar has adopted policies and programs that support persons with disabilities, in line with the attention and support of the wise leadership and government to ensure that no one is left behind.

It added that the state has worked to provide specialized services for persons with disabilities at levels comparable to, and even surpassing, those offered by leading international centers in this field. The State of Qatar has also actively participated in international efforts and forums to showcase its experience in empowering this group, benefit from global expertise, and present its successful initiatives for people with disabilities.

The newspaper pointed to the announcement made by HE Minister of Social Development and Family, expressing the State of Qatar’s aspiration to host the next Disability Summit in 2028, and noted that the aim is to build on the current summit’s successes and enhance its momentum by providing a platform for dialogue, partnership building, and cooperation to bring about real change that contributes to the inclusive development of persons with disabilities.

It added that Qatar is also preparing to host the second United Nations Social Development Summit next November, which will be a pivotal moment in global discussions on promoting social development and supporting international efforts to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, which will not overlook the rights of persons with disabilities as a group deserving of support, empowerment, protection, and full, dignified participation in society.

In conclusion, the newspaper stated that Qatar has issued several laws and taken multiple actions and measures as part of its ongoing efforts to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities, fully integrate them into society, and involve them in the country’s development process. This reflects Qatar’s respect for its international commitments and embodies its national vision, which emphasizes equality and justice for all segments of society, including the rights of persons with disabilities and their inclusion in the path of comprehensive development.
