The Al Shaqab Racing-owned JABBAR (Galileo Gold x Silk Fan) readily saw off twelve rivals, when taking the Play Coral Racing Super Series For Free Nursery Handicap at Newcastle on Tuesday, 30th November.
The two-year-old, trained by Andrew Balding was having his first run in a handicap, following three quick runs in recent months. A switch to the polytrack, along with the application of a visor, saw Jabbar gain a first career success under a strong ride from David Probert.
Darjarus (Holy Roman Emperor) took the field along at a decent gallop for the straight mile. Having dwelt on leaving the stalls, Jabbar was held in in last place and travelled strongly through the early stages. Once inside the final 800m, Jabbar began to slice his way through the field, as the leaders came under pressure. Both Jabbar and Fast Forward (Recorder) closed strongly up the centre of the track inside the final 400m. The pair pulled clear inside the closing stages, with Jabbar puling clear to win by just over a length at the line. Fast Forward took second a length and a half clear of Wheal Kitty (Charming Thought).
Bred by the Silk Fan Syndicate, Jabbar is by Tally Ho Stud stallion Galileo Gold (Paco Boy). His dam, Silk Fan (Unfuwain) won three races and contested multiple listed events. She has produced black-eight winners, including black-type performers Eagle Rock (High Chaparral) and Haikbidiac (Kodiac).
