Al-Sudani and the Iranian President discuss a number of bilateral cooperation files

Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, a number of bilateral cooperation files. During the meeting, according to a statement from his office, Al-Sudani renewed his welcome to President Pezeshkian, on his first foreign visit after assuming his duties, recalling the positions of the late President Ibrahim Raisi towards Iraq, and stressing the importance of bilateral work between the two countries to confront the economic and security challenges in the region, and in the interest of stability and development. For his part, the Iranian President expressed his thanks and appreciation to Iraq and the Iraqi government for the warm reception, stressing the Islamic Republic's desire to strengthen bilateral relations, and proceed with cooperation programs and memoranda of understanding between the two countries. Pezeshkian also presented Al-Sudani with a plaque containing a message from Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in which he r enewed his appreciation and thanks to the Iraqi government and people for the efforts made in receiving visitors on the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein and his companions (peace be upon them), and what this act represents as an embodiment of Islamic generosity and Arab hospitality.
