Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani said that we will not agree to a railway connection with any country to transport goods without completing Al-Faw port project and the development road, and my position is firm.

He added in a meeting with representatives of a number of Iraqi satellite channels that the Iraqi state is serious about putting the development road and Al-Faw port projects into practice, stressing that the railway connection with Iran is for transporting passengers.

He explained that the Minister of Transport is discussing in Saudi Arabia the file of railway connectivity to transport Iraqi passengers and pilgrims.

He said: I follow weekly the completion rates in the port of Faw, indicating that the projects of Port of Faw and the development road create a new Iraq with a diversified economy.

He stressed that there is no delay in the completion of Al-Faw Port:

He said that the five berths project in Al-Faw port has reached 73 percent completion rate, which is more than planned.

He added: In 2025, Al-Faw port project will be completed.

He continued: We will soon invite the countries that have expressed their desire to participate in the path of development to hold a meeting in Baghdad.

He explained that the development path is the shortest and least expensive for transporting goods between the East and the West, indicating that technical discussions are continuing and we have proven the path of development.

Al-Sudani said: We started the step of going to an international consultant, and within two weeks the discussions will be resolved to implement the project, stressing that the project was not implemented in Iraq and the region previously.
