The Head of the National Independent Election Authority in Algeria, Mohamed Charfi, announced in a press conference on Sunday evening the results of the early presidential elections that took place on September 7, 2024. The preliminary results achieved by the three candidates were as follows: - Independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune: 5,329,253, representing 94.65%. - "Movement for a Peaceful Society" candidate Hassani Sharif Abdelali: 178,797, representing 3.17% - "Socialist Forces Front" candidate Youssef Ouchich: 122,146, representing 2.16%. Mohamed Charfi revealed, in announcing the provisional results of the presidential elections, that independent candidate Abdelmadjid Tebboune obtained 5 million, 329 thousand and 253 votes, representing 94.65 percent. The head of the Independent Election Authority confirmed that his body worked with great care to achieve transparent elections and ensured fair competition between all candidates. Mohamed Charfi indicated that the wide participation in the elect oral process indicates the achievement of the desired integrity. The participation rate in the presidential elections reached 48.03 percent at 8 p.m., while it reached 19.57 percent for the community abroad, according to what was reported by the head of the National Independent Election Authority, Mohamed Charfi. Charfi explained the reason for the late announcement of the preliminary results of the presidential elections, stating that the floods in the provinces of Tamanranest and Bechar caused the delay in the announcement.
