The Australian authorities announced today, Saturday, that a helicopter belonging to the defense forces had crashed in the ocean off the coast of Queensland state, without knowing the fate of its four-person crew.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marlis said, in press statements, that at least four people are feared to have died in a helicopter crash, pointing out that the stricken plane was participating in the military exercises that take place every two years between the United States and Australia under the name "Talisman Saber".

He stated that the plane fell into the waters near Hamilton Island late Friday evening, noting that the four-member air crew was not found, as search and rescue operations are underway for them.

In April 2022, Australia witnessed two helicopter crashes, which resulted in seven deaths.
