Addis Ababa: The African Union (AU) Executive Council commenced its 46th ordinary session in Addis Ababa on Wednesday, which will continue until February 13. This session serves as a precursor to the summit of heads of state, scheduled for February 15-16.
According to Qatar News Agency, the session’s agenda includes the election of five new members to the AU Peace and Security Council and six commissioners. Additionally, the council will review issues pertinent to joint African efforts, discuss annual reports on the activities of the Union and its bodies, complete the legal framework for the African Free Trade Area, and approve the statute of the African mechanism for disaster preparedness and response.
