China strongly condemned the horrific Zionist attacks on humanitarian agencies and humanitarian workers in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. China's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang said in a briefing to the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, that the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to provide relief to Palestinian refugees, and is a strong pillar of humanitarian operations in Gaza, adding that "UNRWA" has not abandoned Gaza yet, even in the most dangerous times, and 224 of its employees have been killed while performing their duties. He praised the efforts of all humanitarian workers who are still working there, calling on the Zionist entity to seriously investigate all attacks on humanitarian workers and hold their perpetrators accountable. He also called on the Zionist entity to fulfill its obligations under international h umanitarian law by putting lives and humanity first, explaining that despite the four resolutions adopted by the Security Council, the orders of the International Court of Justice on interim measures, and the tremendous efforts made by the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies, the difficult humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues, and violations of international law, especially international humanitarian law, continue. He said: "China renews its call on Israel to fulfill its obligations under international humanitarian law by putting lives and humanity first, lifting the blockade immediately, opening all crossings, removing restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid, stopping attacks on the United Nations and other humanitarian agencies, and providing safe and unhindered access for the operations of those agencies."
