Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aati discussed, in a phone call, with his US counterpart, Marco Rubio, developments in implementing the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration said in a statement Wednesday that the two ministers discussed during the call the strategic partnership between the two countries and the common desire to advance bilateral cooperation relations in various fields, which contributes to consolidating the partnership and enhancing efforts aimed at confronting multiple regional challenges.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized, during the call, the importance of the parties to the agreement continuing to implement its provisions in its three stages, which contribute to the exchange of hostages and prisoners, allows the Palestinian people to return to their homes, and allows humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip sustainably, as an essential step to restore calm and stability and crystallize a political horizon that contributes to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, based on the two-state solution and in accordance with international legitimacy.
Abdel Aati also stressed the importance of not infringing on the rights of the Palestinian people, who are keen to remain on their land and refuse to be transferred or displaced outside it, and hence the necessity of respecting the steadfastness of this people and their right to self-determination.
