Dario Deste, the General Manager of Naval Vessels Division at Fincantieri Italy - one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world and the first in Europe, said that the visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Italy will open the door for more joint cooperation between the two countries, including the maritime field. In remarks to Qatar News Agency , Deste said that the cooperation with the Qatari Navy started years ago and that the company is ready to develop that partnership and cooperation further. He stressed that there is a commitment from the Italian government and the Italian Navy in this regard. In a related context, he indicated that the company has delivered 7 ships requested by the Qatari Navy, six of which entered service while the seventh will be delivered in November. Training, logistical support, maintenance, and other services were also provided. He pointed out that the ships that were delivered operate with the latest technologies and are the best in the Gulf region, st ressing the company's continued support for the Qatari Navy. He noted that Fincantieri manufactures, builds, designs, and implements various types of ships, whether for tourism, oil and gas, or other fields.
