New York, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. The two sides discussed areas of cooperation between Bahrain and the WHO in fields overseen by the organisation, as well as ways to benefit from its expertise in implementing projects and supporting development plans and programmes for member states. They reviewed the initiative launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, adopted at the Arab Summit held in Bahrain last May, which focuses on providing health services to those affected by conflicts in the region. Prospects for cooperation between Bahrain and the WHO to implement this initiative were also discussed. Jamal Faris Al Rowaiei, Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Fatima Abdullah Al Dhaen, Director-General of International Cooperation, attended the meeting.
