France’s Macron Advocates for Inclusive Regional Role in Lebanon Peace Talks

Nicosia: French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the necessity of involving all regional stakeholders tied to Lebanon's security in negotiations to foster enduring peace. He articulated this stance while speaking alongside Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, prior to an informal European summit in Nicosia. Macron underscored that discussions should not only occur between Lebanon and Israel but should also include broader regional participation to ensure long-term stability in the region.

According to Qatar News Agency, Macron highlighted the considerable pressure Lebanon faces, with efforts being made to extend the current ceasefire. He reaffirmed France's preparedness to host a conference aimed at supporting the Lebanese army, contingent upon a formal request from Beirut.

Talks at the ambassador level between Lebanon and Israel are currently underway in Washington, D.C., mediated by the United States. Lebanon is seeking an extension of the existing truce by one month as part of these discussions.
