BEIRUT: French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Lebanon Friday, marking the second visit by a head of state since Joseph Aoun assumed the presidency. Macron’s visit underscores France’s ongoing commitment to fostering stability and unity in Lebanon.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Elysee Palace issued a statement expressing Macron’s desire for the formation of a strong government in Lebanon. This government would be tasked with implementing reforms essential for restoring the country’s security and sovereignty, aligning with the aspirations of the Lebanese people.
The statement further emphasized that Macron’s visit is a testament to France’s enduring commitment to Lebanon’s stability, unity, and development. Additionally, it presents an opportunity to advance the full implementation of the November 26 ceasefire and reaffirm France’s dedication to this objective through its participation in the UNIFIL forces and the mechanism for monitoring the ceasefire agreement’s implementation.
