Riyadh: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed its support for US President Donald Trump’s announcement to lift sanctions on Syria. On Tuesday, Trump disclosed his plans to remove all sanctions on the Arab nation during his visit to Riyadh, which is part of a broader Gulf tour that also includes visits to Doha and Abu Dhabi.
According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role in facilitating this significant decision. He expressed hopes that lifting the sanctions would help ease the suffering of the Syrian people and open avenues for establishing a secure and prosperous future for the Syrian Arab Republic.
