The Jordanian Foreign Ministry condemned on Wednesday Israel's assassination of the head of the political bureau of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, stressing that it is "an escalating crime that will lead to more tension and chaos in the region." The official Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufian Qudah, stressed Jordan's firm position in rejecting the violation of the sovereignty of states and international law, and in condemning political assassinations, violence and terrorism, regardless of their motives. Qudah stressed the need for the international community to assume its responsibilities and take immediate measures to impose a halt to the Israeli aggression on Gaza and Israel's violations of international law and UN resolutions, and to protect the security and stability of the region from the disastrous consequences of the continued Israeli aggression on Gaza, and the escalation of its violations of the rights of the Palestinian people and its crimes against them. He expressed Jordan's condolences to the sisterly State of Palestine and its people, and to the family of Dr. Haniyeh and his companion, may God have mercy on them. The official spokesman for the Ministry also condemned the Israeli aggression on the Lebanese capital Beirut yesterday, and Israel's continued violations of Lebanese sovereignty. He warned that these crimes will only lead to dragging the region towards the expansion of war and threatening regional and international security and peace. Source: National Iraqi News Agency
