His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah, on Wednesday, announced the entry to the fifth phase of the gradual plan of returning to normal life. During a press conference, the Government Communication Center Head, Tariq Al- Mezrim said that the Kuwaiti Cabinet decided to drop social distancing restrictions between worshipers at mosques as of October 22.

It also decided to allow issuing visas for those wishing to enter Kuwait and who have already received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines (certified in Kuwait health ministry). Al-Mezrim said that the Cabinet allowed Kuwait International Airport to work in full capacity as of October 24.

His Highness the Prime Minister went on thanking citizens and residents for their commitment to implementing the health requirements during the past period and for their willingness to receive the COVID- 19 vaccine, said Al-Mezrim. It is imperative to retain compliance with health precautions aiming to halt the spread of COVID- 19 even as normal life returns to Kuwait, the country’s health minister said on Wednesday.

Keeping the lifting of restrictions in place without “going backwards” hinges on people’s “awareness” and “compliance” with COVID precautions, Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah told a virtual press conference after an extraordinary cabinet meeting over the government’s pandemic response. Kuwait has fared well in the fight against COVID-19, the minister underlined, attributing the success to the efforts of the country’s political leaders, in addition to the sacrifices of healthcare workers and front-liners.
