MECC Unveils Qatar’s 2025 Environmental Report at Doha Book Fair

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) has unveiled the State of the Environment Report of the State of Qatar 2025 at the Doha International Book Fair 2026 (DIBF). The event saw the participation of Assistant Undersecretary for Nature Reserves Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Latif Al Musallamani, along with ministry officials, environmental enthusiasts, and fair visitors.

According to Qatar News Agency, this report marks the second edition of a key national ecological document, published periodically to monitor and assess Qatar's environmental status. It also follows up on national efforts in environmental protection and sustainability enhancement. The report utilizes modern environmental data and indicators to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the nation's environmental status, as explained by Engineer Hussein Al Kubaisi, Director of the Technical Office at the Ministry.

Al Kubaisi emphasized that the report addresses major environmental challenges and responses, aiding planning and decision-making processes. It also supports sustainable development and raises environmental awareness. The report reviews environmental developments over the past five years and highlights national achievements and indicators based on the Integrated Environmental Assessment methodology.

He noted that the preparation of the report involved experts, researchers, and specialists from various academic and research institutions across Qatar. This collaboration underscores the integration among national entities involved in environmental affairs. Al Kubaisi highlighted that such reports are part of a global trend, as many countries, including those in the GCC, regularly publish similar documents in line with recommendations from the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for Environmental Affairs.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) also contributes to this effort by periodically releasing the Global Environment Outlook (GEO) report, which provides insights into the global environmental condition.
