Doha: The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Public Parks Department, inaugurated the Hazm Al Markhiya Park on Thursday. This initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and provide a sustainable and healthy environment for both citizens and residents.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Services Affairs at the Ministry of Municipality, Eng. Abdullah Ahmed Al Karani, emphasized the significance of this new park. He stated that the opening of Hazm Al Markhiya Park is a testament to the ministry’s commitment to developing public parks and gardens that meet world-class standards. The park aims to serve as a recreational destination for families, with a focus on providing safe playgrounds for children.
The park, strategically located in Al Markhiya, spans a total area of 24,000 square meters, with 14,500 square meters dedicated to cultivated green spaces. This constitutes 60 percent of the park’s overall area and includes 273 native trees and 421 shrubs, which are instrumental in promoting plant biodiversity and improving air quality.
Visitors to the park can enjoy a variety of facilities, including a 585-meter walking path and a 671-meter running track. An outdoor fitness area covering 85 square meters is also available for physical exercises. Additionally, the park features a 687-meter cycling path, a 454-square-meter children’s play area divided into age-appropriate sections, and facilities such as restrooms, seating, and 44 parking spaces.
The park prioritizes environmental sustainability by employing eco-friendly lighting solutions, making it an ideal destination for families and individuals seeking recreation and relaxation.
