MoTC, QFC Sign MoU to Boost Digital Tech Industry Development

The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) and the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperating in all areas related to the technological and economic development in the State of Qatar, and the development of a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in all sectors of society.

The MoU was signed at MoTC by Ms. Reem Al Mansouri, Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Society Development Affairs at the ministry, and Mr. Yousef Mohammed Al Jaida, Executive Chairman of the QFC Authority.

Through the MoU, the two parties aim to support activities or projects that will increase the rates and indicators of digital industry contribution to Qatar's GDP, and aim to enhance the competitiveness of the local digital ICT sector as well as support activities aimed at to attract more investments, local, and international companies.

As per the MoU, the two parties intend to support digital development in the field of information and communication technology and its adoption in Qatar for high priority segments of society such as the youth, entrepreneurs, startups, SMEs and others.

Commenting on the MoU, Ms. Al Mansoori said: We are delighted to have signed this MoU with QFC, which comes within MoTC's framework of digital industry competitiveness enhancement mechanisms in Qatar, through boosting entrepreneurship, research, and innovation. This MoU will offer a significant platform for constructive cooperation, a broader, and more pragmatic coordination toward what we aim for.
