Nechirvan Barzani and the International Coalition agree that those liberated from ISIS must be qualified to return to their communities

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, and the Commander-in-Chief of the International Coalition Forces in Iraq and Syria, Joel Fawl, agreed that those rescued from ISIS must be qualified to return to their communities.

The Presidency of the Kurdistan Region stated in a statement, “In a meeting between Nechirvan Barzani and Fawl, in the presence of the American Consul in Erbil, on Thursday, they discussed the latest developments in the fight against terrorism, the dangers of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and the reform process in the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.”

The two sides stressed that “all parties in Iraq and Syria must cooperate with each other to prevent the re-emergence of ISIS while it still poses a real threat to the security and stability of the region.”

In this context, they agreed in the opinion that “those who are rescued from the grip of ISIS or who leave the camps must be trained to return to the embrace of their communities,” and they also “shed light on ways to block the path to extremism.”
