Doha: Qatar University rolled out a string of workshops intended for enabling female students to integrate Qatari heritage themes in contemporary artistic production. Giving an inaugural speech, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Diab highlighted the importance of the workshops in refining students' talents and introducing them to the characteristics of Qatari heritage and identity. The event aims to foster female students' capacity to deeply employ Qatari heritage in modern expressive methods, he told the event co-organized by the Student Affairs Department and College of Education. Director of Student Activities Department, Abdullah Al Mulla said the workshops would enable female students to produce contemporary art inspired by Qatari heritage and identity, amplifying their understanding of Qatari traditions. Some of the workshops focused on employing ceramic art to express diverse elements of the Qatari nature, including the desert, sea life and diving. Source: Qatar News Agency
