Al Shahania: Al Shahania SC has announced the appointment of Spanish coach Jose Murcia until the end of the current season, marking his second stint with the team.
According to Qatar News Agency, the club confirmed that Murcia signed the contract following the mutual termination of the agreement with the previous coach, Spaniard Alvaro Mejia. Jose Murcia previously coached Al Shahania for three seasons, beginning in the 2017-2018 season when he led the team to promotion from the Second Division to the Qatar Stars League (QSL). During the 2018-2019 season, he guided the team to a seventh-place finish in the QSL before departing at the end of the 2019-2020 season.
After leaving Al Shahania, Murcia took charge of Muaither, leading them to promotion to the QSL in the 2022-2023 season and coaching them in the 2023-2024 season until his contract was terminated in November 2023.
Murcia's third coaching experience in Qatar was with Al Wakrah, where he served as interim coach for two months during the 2023-2024 season, succeeding his compatriot Marquez Lopez.
Currently, Al Shahania sits in eighth place in the Ooredoo Stars League standings with 14 points, coming off a 2-1 victory over Al Khor in the previous round. The team is set to face Al Wakrah in the 14th round of the Ooredoo Stars League on Friday at Stadium 974.
