Qatar's first beach volleyball team, consisting of the duo Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan, qualified for the semifinals at the Paris Olympics 2024, after defeating the US duo Bartin Miles and Benish Andrew in straight sets 21-14 and 21-16 marking their fifth consecutive victory in the competition. In the next round, the Qatari team will face the Swedish counterparts, David Ahman and Jonathan Hellvig, whom they had previously defeated in the group stage 2-1. This marks the Qatar's third consecutive participation in the Olympic Games. They aim to achieve a new milestone to add to their series of continental and global accomplishments, including winning gold medals at the Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang in 2018 and Hangzhou in 2022, as well as a bronze medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Member of the board of directors of the Qatar Volleyball Association and the head of the Qatari delegation at Paris Olympics 2024, Mohamed Salem Al Kuwari, commended the Qatari team for qualifying for the semifinals, add ing that this came through perseverance and determination, following a superb performance in all contests. He acknowledged that today's match was the most challenging one, noting that any loss will imply knockout after the profound efforts made in the past period for qualification.
