Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani met in New York last night with the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, on the sidelines of his participation in the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, ways to consolidate them, and a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
The Prime Minister affirmed Iraq's endeavor to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and partnership with brotherly and friendly countries, and to achieve economic integration in order to confront the various challenges faced by the peoples of the region.
Al-Sudani stressed during the meeting that Iraq is committed to supporting the stability of Yemen, working to enhance calm and stability in the region, dealing positively through dialogue windows with regional crises, and bringing viewpoints closer between the various parties.
For his part, Al-Alimi indicated his country’s desire to strengthen the extended bilateral cooperation relations with Iraq, and to work jointly at various levels and fields, for the benefit of the brotherly peoples of Iraq and Yemen.
