Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Calls for Immediate Engagement on 2nd Phase of Gaza Agreement

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani has emphasized the importance of all parties’ commitment to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, advocating for immediate negotiations on the second phase of the agreement.

According to Qatar News Agency, during a joint press conference with HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkiye Hakan Fidan, His Excellency underscored the need to consolidate the ceasefire and proceed with the exchange of hostages and prisoners. He called on the international community to exert pressure to ensure the success of the negotiations, highlighting ongoing cooperation with Egypt and the USA to ensure full implementation.

His Excellency also stressed the importance of providing humanitarian aid to Gaza and supporting the United Nations in delivering aid. He emphasized the need for a clear mechanism by international institutions to ensure aid reaches those in need without obstruction from Israeli forces.

Qatar’s humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip continues, with His Excellency urging increased international cooperation to address the critical needs of the Palestinian people. He reiterated the necessity of ending the occupation and establishing a Palestinian state per international resolutions, noting the immense human suffering witnessed in Gaza.

In discussions with the Turkish Foreign Minister, His Excellency addressed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Syria, emphasizing the strategic partnership between Qatar and Turkiye on regional issues. He welcomed Syria’s restructuring efforts and called for lifting sanctions that exacerbate the humanitarian crisis.

The meeting also highlighted the commitment of Qatar and Turkiye to support Syria’s recovery and humanitarian needs. His Excellency expressed Qatar’s firm stance against displacing Palestinians from Gaza, despite recent statements from US President Donald Trump.

HE Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan praised the strong relations between Qatar and Turkiye, focusing on regional stability and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through a two-state solution, calling for the removal of obstacles to aid in Gaza.

The discussions underscored the ongoing collaboration between Qatar and Turkiye, aiming for peace and stability in the region while addressing pressing humanitarian and political challenges.
