Qatar and Oman Strengthen Ties with Joint Communique During HH the Amir’s Visit

Muscat: A joint communique between the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman was issued on Wednesday during the state visit of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to Oman. The communique emphasized the historical ties and fraternal bonds between the two nations, highlighting the meeting between HH the Amir and HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq as a step towards enhancing bilateral relations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the visit, which took place on January 28 and 29, 2025, included extensive bilateral talks in an atmosphere of fraternity. The discussions focused on the progress of joint actions and cooperation, aiming to expand economic partnerships and explore new opportunities. Both leaders encouraged public and private sectors to diversify areas of partnership to meet the aspirations of their peoples.

Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and executive programs were signed, covering a broad range of sectors. The success of the Qatari-Omani Joint Committee was praised, with both sides valuing its role in enhancing cooperation and implementing projects of mutual interest. Discussions also covered the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the need for greater cohesion among member states.

Regional and international issues were also on the agenda, with an emphasis on peaceful conflict resolution and enhancing dialogue to support security and stability. Particular focus was given to the conflict in Gaza, where both sides expressed hope for a comprehensive peace and the importance of humanitarian aid.

The communique also addressed Syria, calling for efforts towards a transitional process that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian people. The visit concluded with mutual expressions of gratitude and well-wishes between HH the Amir and HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, marking a successful continuation of Qatar-Oman relations.
