Qatar Basketball Federation Announces Participation in Arab Club Championship

Doha: The Qatar Basketball Federation (QBF) announced that Al Arabi and Al Rayyan will participate in the 37th edition of the Arab Men’s Club Basketball Championship, hosted by Al Nasr Club in the United Arab Emirates from September 25 to October 6.

According to Qatar News Agency, both Qatari clubs are awaiting the official draw, which is scheduled for Sunday, September 7. The draw will be conducted remotely to determine the groupings for the tournament. A technical meeting for the championship is planned to take place in Dubai, just one day before the competition kicks off.

The championship will see participation from 16 clubs across the region. In addition to Al Arabi and Al Rayyan from Qatar, the lineup includes Kuwait’s Kazma and Qadsia, Syria’s Al Wahda and Homs Al-Fida, and Yemen’s Shaab Hadramout and Al Mina.

The competition will also feature Oman’s Al Bashaer and Al Seeb, Lebanon’s Al Hikma and Antonine, Libya’s Ahli Tripoli, Bahrain’s Al Manama, and the host club Al Nasr.

The organizing committee has introduced a change to the foreign player participation rules for this tournament. Teams are now permitted to register three professional players, replacing the previous system that allowed two foreign players and one Arab player. This amendment aims to enhance competition and elevate the technical level of the championship.
