The State of Qatar has launched “Scoring For The Goals” event for sustainable development at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters. This comes as part of its preparations for hosting a sustainable version of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, which is regarded as the most environmentally friendly version in the history of FIFA world cup tournaments.
Held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA), the inauguration ceremony was attended by HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE President of the Republic of Ecuador Guillermo Lasso, HE UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, HE Mr. Csaba Korosi, President of the 77th Session of the UNGA, and HE Ms. Amina Mohammed, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations.
The ceremony was also attended by HE Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Minister of Education and Higher Education, HE Mr. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), and HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, along with a number of officials and high-profile officials from the UN Secretariat General.
