Qatar to Face Yemen in Critical Gulf U-20 Youth Cup Group A Match

Dammam: The Qatari national team is set to face Yemen on Sunday at Damac Stadium in Saudi Arabia for its second match in Group A of the ongoing Gulf U-20 Youth Cup, which will continue until September 9. This match is crucial as the Qatari team aims to secure its first victory in the tournament.

According to Qatar News Agency, the tournament’s Group A leader, Saudi Arabia, will also play against Kuwait at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium. The Qatari team previously drew in its opening match against Kuwait, with both teams scoring two goals each, thereby earning Qatar its first point in the competition.

Spanish coach Emmanuel Infante, who leads the Qatari team, has articulated a clear goal of securing a win in the upcoming match against Yemen. A victory would bring the team to four points, positioning them favorably for a spot in the semifinals. Coach Infante emphasized that participation in this tournament is not only about winning but also about gaining valuable experience and exposure for future competitions.

The coach expressed optimism about the team’s potential to achieve satisfying results and technical benefits, alongside the ambition to advance to the final stages of the tournament. The Qatari squad is composed of 23 players, including notable names such as Naim Al Maghni, Ali Boumediene, and Christian Saric, among others.

Qatar’s group stage matches will conclude with a game against Saudi Arabia on September 3 at Prince Sultan Sports City Stadium. The tournament’s semifinal matches are scheduled for September 7, with the final game set to conclude the event on September 10.

The participating teams are divided into two groups, with Group A comprising Qatar, host Saudi Arabia, and Yemen. Group B consists of Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, and Egypt, which joined the tournament following the UAE team’s withdrawal by invitation.
