Doha: Al Sharq newspaper, in its editorial today, emphasized the significance of Eid Al Fitr coinciding with the commemoration of Land Day, a pivotal event in Palestinian history marking their 1976 uprising against Israeli land-seizure plans. This day symbolizes the enduring Palestinian fight against occupation and their determination to reclaim their homeland and identity.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al Sharq highlighted the ongoing struggle over memory and history between the Palestinians and the Israeli occupiers. The editorial praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, who, despite facing displacement and extermination attempts, continue to assert their identity and right of return across generations. The newspaper underscored that Land Day now resonates globally with freedom advocates, asserting that Palestine’s cause extends beyond mere geography and remains an undeniable truth.
Meanwhile, Al Watan shed light on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with the death toll from Israeli aggression surpassing 50,000 and injuries numbering around 114,000. The paper reported that Gaza is entering a famine stage due to Israel’s border closures, intensifying the catastrophic humanitarian conditions. Al Watan called for urgent international action to protect Palestinians and stop the escalation, warning that continued aggression could destabilize the entire region.
The editorial also criticized Israel’s breach of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal, labeling the actions in Gaza as war crimes and genocide. Al Watan implored the international community to act without delay to halt these violations, reinforcing that Israel’s actions are a blatant disregard for international law and agreements.
