Gaza: The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Friday that large numbers of dead bodies had been discovered after Israeli military vehicles withdrew from areas they had penetrated into the northern Gaza Strip. The association stated, in a statement, that 'there are large numbers of martyrs in areas where Israeli vehicles have penetrated into the northern Gaza Strip, and rescue crews are facing difficulties in recovering the martyrs,' without specifying. She added, "Civil Defense urgently needs equipment to retrieve martyrs and bodies from under the rubble." It warned that the faltering process of retrieving the bodies threatens the spread of diseases and epidemics in the areas of northern Gaza. On Friday, the Israeli army withdrew from the northern Gaza Strip after a military operation that lasted 20 days, leaving unprecedented widespread destruction, especially in the Jabalia camp and its surroundings, and burning hundreds of homes. On May 12, the Israeli army began a ground attack in the camp and i ts surrounding areas, then announced three days later the expansion of the attack after its forces faced 'fierce battles' with Palestinian resistance factions. In the early hours of dawn, tens of thousands of Palestinians began returning to Jabalia camp and its surroundings to inspect their homes and property. Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli withdrawal revealed massive destruction in the Jabalia camp and its surroundings, including thousands of housing units, in addition to roads, water, electricity and sewage networks. Israeli soldiers also burned hundreds of residential buildings that were not destroyed in the camp, according to eyewitnesses Source: Maan News Agency
