Mogadishu: The Somali army announced that its forces killed 20 members of the Al Shabaab movement, which is affiliated with Al Qaeda, in a military operation in the southeastern part of the country.
According to Qatar News Agency, the army stated that the operation took place in the Middle Shabelle region, where its forces seized quantities of weapons and ammunition belonging to Al Shabaab militants. The statement noted that the operation is part of the army’s strategic objectives to eliminate the remnants of the group, which is now suffering from significant weakness. The statement also added that the Somali army will continue to track down the group’s members wherever they are.
