Some 150,000 Benefit from Awqaf’s Iftar Tables During Ramadan

Doha: The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) revealed that 150,000 fasting individuals have benefited from Iftar tables organized at the Thursday and Friday Souq, Al Wakrah, Al Khor, and Al Sailiya, with four tables for each.

According to Qatar News Agency, Awqaf highlighted that these tables are part of the Iftar project for fasting individuals it organizes to help those in need. The project this year is expected to reach approximately 300,000 fasting individuals, distributed across various regions statewide, to promote the precepts of social interdependence and mercy among community members.

Chairman of the Iftar committee at Awqaf, Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali, explained that the project aims to seek nearness to Allah through charitable work, reviving the Prophetic Sunnah by feeding fasting individuals. It also provides benefactors an opportunity to earn virtuous deeds, assists those in need to perform the prescribed fasting pillar, and makes use of endowments and contributions through secure channels.

Al Ali noted that the Iftar tables provide opportunities for individuals to engage with educational content beneficial for the Qatari community. They also foster effective partnerships with official entities in Qatar to serve the community and boost the domestic economy.

He emphasized that the project offers high-quality integrated meals, prepared in comfortable, air-conditioned places to ensure a serene and joyful experience. Iftar tents are organized through a specialized committee, with task forces managing site organization and meal preparation and catering services.

Al Ali stated that Awqaf collaborates with relevant public agencies, such as the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Interior, to ensure the project’s success. Contributions from benefactors have been encouraged, aligning with Sharia evidence that serving Iftar meals helps achieve nearness to Allah and earn charitable deeds during the holy month.

He added that those wishing to contribute to the Iftar tables can choose their preferred area of support and participate through the project’s online link: https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/ftr.
