Doha: The sub-qualifiers (B) for the Asian region of the Men's Cricket World Cup (T20) organized by the International Cricket Council are set to commence on Tuesday in Doha, continuing until November 28. Khalid Saleh Al Rumaihi, Secretary-General of the Qatar Cricket Committee and Director of the Tournament, confirmed during a press conference on Monday that all preparations have been completed for the competition's start. Seven teams, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Emirates, Thailand, Cambodia, and Bhutan, are participating. Three matches will be held daily at the West End International Cricket Stadium and the Doha University of Science and Technology Stadium, with rest days on November 21, 24, and 27. According to Qatar News Agency, Al Rumaihi also shared that 12 resident referees and 21 referees from the International Federation will oversee the competitions. He expressed his wishes for success to all teams, with the best team qualifying for the next stage of the qualifiers. He highlighted th e Qatari team's extensive preparations, including internal training camps and friendly matches with various Asian and Arab teams, ensuring they are fully prepared to compete and achieve positive results. Al Rumaihi explained that the qualifiers' system allows the first and second place winners from the sub-qualifiers to advance to the main qualifiers for the Men's Cricket World Cup T20, with the main qualifiers' location to be announced later. Khalid Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Qatar Cricket Committee and Assistant Director of the Tournament, stated that preparations for hosting these qualifiers began over two months ago to ensure the best organizational and technical standards. Al Suwaidi reiterated the Qatari cricket team's readiness, emphasizing their strong potential to secure one of the top two positions and qualify for the main qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. He added that all participating teams began their training on Monday, following a pre-arranged schedule, and praised the Qatar Cric ket Committee for its excellent organization, hospitality, and quality sports facilities. The Qatari team will open its tournament journey on Tuesday against Thailand, followed by matches against Bhutan, Cambodia, Bahrain, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia on November 28.
