Doha: Qatar national swimming team occupied the second place in the open age category of the 28th GCC Aquatic Championships, which was concluded at Hamad Aquatics Centre on Sunday.
Kuwait led the standings with 14 gold medals while Oman finished third with 2 gold medals. United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain followed in that order.
In Sunday's competitions, Qatari swimmers won 6 medals, including two gold medals by Mohammed Mahmoud in the 400m medley and Abdulaziz Al Obaidli in the 200m breaststroke, in addition to four silver medals obtained by Mohammed Mahmoud in the 50m freestyle, Abdulaziz Al Obaidli in the 100m breaststroke.
Qatar team of Youssef Ashraf, Abdulaziz Al Obaidli, Tamim Al Hamayda and Mohammed Mahmoud also won the silver medal in the 4x100m medley, while Qatar team consisting of Firas Saeedi, Ali Al Nuaimi, Abdulaziz Al Obaidly and Mohammad Mahmoud won the silver in 4x100m freestyle, bringing the total number of Qatari medals in the open age category to 10 medals (3 golds, 6 silvers and one bronzes).
