The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Chairman of the Child Welfare Authority, Ahmed Al-Asadi, signed with UNICEF the work tasks of child care units in Iraq, stressing the continuation of efforts to provide an environment that guarantees every child his basic rights and gives him the opportunity to achieve his full potential. Al-Asadi said in his speech at the Iraqi Children's Day celebration held by the Social Protection Authority in cooperation with UNICEF that the Ministry of Labor, especially the Child Welfare and Social Protection Authority, worked to guarantee the rights of children to quality education, and launched the grant for children from needy families to ensure their continuation of study, as well as comprehensive health Care. The Minister revealed that the number of individual children covered by social assistance reached 3 million and 479,523 children, which is the largest number reached by the Ministry, noting that the Ministry has worked on launching the national strategy for early chi ldhood development in the country, which guarantees the development of children until the age of eight and secures their needs. He explained that the efforts of the Ministry, through the Supreme National Committee for Monitoring Violations against Children, culminated in removing Iraq from the list of the use of children in armed conflicts, pointing out that the Ministry's efforts continue to provide a safe environment for child protection and is working in cooperation with the House of Representatives to prepare a draft child protection law that has been read for the first time and awaiting the second reading in preparation for voting on it.
