Two Killed, 14 Injured in Russian Strikes on Southern Ukraine

Odesa: Two people were killed and 14 others injured on Friday in Russian strikes targeting southern Ukraine, according to Ukrainian authorities.

According to Qatar News Agency, Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported on Telegram that the attacks affected four buildings in the city of Odesa, resulting in casualties and damage. These incidents are part of ongoing hostilities that have seen repeated strikes and loss of life in the region.

Similar Russian strikes on Thursday resulted in the deaths of four people in the cities of Dnipro in central Ukraine and Zhytomyr in the northwest. The pattern of attacks has raised concerns over the escalating violence and its impact on civilians in various parts of Ukraine.

Earlier this month, on April 16, a separate attack in Odesa claimed the lives of nine people. The city has been a frequent target in the ongoing conflict, experiencing multiple strikes that have resulted in significant casualties.

A report by the United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine published in early January highlighted the severe toll of the conflict, with nearly 15,000 civilians killed and about 40,600 injured since the war began in February 2022. The report underscores the humanitarian crisis unfolding as a result of the prolonged conflict.
