UK Foreign Office Warns of Critical Humanitarian Situation in Gaza Strip

Doha: The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) on Monday warned of the critical humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Minister for the Middle East and North Africa at the FCDO, Hamish Faulkner, highlighted that the blocking of life-saving aid to the Gaza Strip for two weeks has severely hindered access to food, water, and healthcare. Faulkner noted that only 10 percent of Gazans currently have access to drinking water, underscoring the urgent need for the Israeli occupation forces to lift restrictions immediately to facilitate aid delivery and prevent further suffering.

The warning from Faulkner follows a series of warnings over the past two days by UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. Lammy expressed his serious concern regarding the dire situation in Gaza and urged Israeli forces to lift the blockade preventing the entry of essential aid and electricity. He also reiterated his support for the United Nations’ efforts to provide assistance to Palestinian civilians in distress.
