Work continue to put out fire in Zahi Mountain and various areas in Lattakia countryside

The cadres and vehicles of the Agricultural Department in Lattakia province continue their work to control the fire erupted in Zahi Mountain in the province northern countryside, supported by the vehicles of the civil defense, the firefighter team and a number of the Syrian Arab Army personnel.

Supervising the fire extinguishing operations in the area, Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, Eng. Bassem Duba said that the firefighter teams managed to control more than 80 percent of the fire, and secure some important sites and protect the forests from the spreading of the fire.

Eng. Douba hailed the considerable efforts exerted by the teams to control all the fire.

He noted that the firefighting teams are working in difficult circumstances as the area is adjacent to the areas where the terrorist organizations are spreading in addition to that the fire caused the explosion of some of the mines left behind by terrorists.

Lattakia Governor Eng. Amer Hilal inspected the fire putting out operations in the area, the workflow and the support provided by the public establishments, praising the large exerted efforts to control the fire.

Commander of Lattakia firefighting brigade, Mohannad Ja’afar, in turn, told SANA reporter that the firefighting brigade in Lattakia managed during the past 24 hours to put out three large fires out of eight that were erupted in Lattakia, among them the fire that was erupted on large areas of olive and cypress trees and agricultural and forestry lands in Al-Qawiqa area in al-Quradaha countryside, in addition to extinguishing another fire near the fuel station.

He added a group of fires were also extinguished in other areas of the province.
