19.2 Billion Riyals Surplus Trade Balance

The merchandise trade balance, which represents the difference between total exports and imports during the last August, achieved a surplus of 19.2 billion Qatari riyals, recording an increase of 12.3 billion Qatari riyals, around 177.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year 2020, and a decrease of approximately 0.4 billion Qatari riyals, about 2%, compared to July 2021.

The Planning and Statistics Authority explained in its preliminary report on foreign trade statistics issued last August, which includes data on exports (of local origin and re-export) and imports, that the value of the total Qatari exports during August 2021 (which includes exports of local origin and re-exports), amounted to approximately QR 27.3 billion, an increase of 94.3 percent compared to August 2020 and a decrease of 0.6 percent compared to July 2021.

The value of merchandise imports increased during August 2021, reaching about 8.1 billion Qatari riyals, an increase of 13.6 percent compared to August 2020, and an increase of 2.9 percent, compared to July 2021.
