Jakarta, An earthquake measuring 4.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Tuesday off the coast of the Indonesian island of Java. The epicenter of the earthquake was 71 km from the region, at a depth of 89 km, the US Geological Survey reported There have been no reports of material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake so far. On Dec. 31, 2023, an earthquake measuring 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale struck West Java, Indonesia, causing residents to flee their homes and damage to buildings. No casualties were reported. Indonesia is located on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an area of high seismic activity located above multiple tectonic plates. Source: Qatar News Agency
