Doha: A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck Monday the northeastern coast of Seram Island in Indonesia.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred 66 kilometers from the coastal town of Bula, at a depth of 90 kilometers.
Indonesia is regularly exposed to earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where many tectonic plates meet and cause frequent volcanic and seismic activity.
