Port Moresby, An earthquake measuring 5.7 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea Tuesday. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 57 km from the city of Lae, at a depth of 44.9 km. There were no reports of human losses or material damage as a result of the earthquake. Papua New Guinea experiences frequent earthquakes due to its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire. In Feb. 2018, the country was rocked by a devastating earthquake that killed at least 100 people and caused landslides that buried dozens of villages. Source: Qatar News Agency
