At least five people were killed due to severe tornadoes that struck central US. The US National Weather Service (NWS) reported that 78 tornadoes were recorded, most of them in the states of Iowa and Nebraska, and 35 other tornadoes were counted from north Texas to Missouri. Local authorities said that the tornadoes caused the death of two people in the town of Holdenville, Oklahoma, while significant damage was recorded in the small town of Salvor, which is more than 100 km away, according to US Al Hurra TV channel. In the town of Sulfur, which was most affected by these tornadoes in Murray County, southern Oklahoma, three people were killed, while 30 others were injured in the wake of two major tornadoes that destroyed a number of homes and buildings, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt said in a statement.
