Doha: Nine Colombian soldiers were killed and 20 others injured when their truck fell into a chasm last night in the southwest of the country, authorities said. The military vehicle, carrying 36 soldiers, fell into a chasm about 100 meters, governor of Narino department Luis Alfonso Escobar, said.

According to Qatar News Agency, videos released by authorities showed rescue workers using ropes to help the soldiers. The incident has raised concerns about the safety measures in place for military transport in the region.
