The Saudi Geological Survey Authority stated that seismic monitoring stations recorded an earthquake in the middle of the Red Sea, 161 kilometers west of Al-Laith Governorate, affiliated with the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, at exactly 12:09 am on Saturday. The Authority explained on its website: "The magnitude of the earthquake reached 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was at a depth of about 10.4 kilometers." The US Geological Survey also reported, today, Saturday, that two earthquakes were recorded in the Red Sea region. The Authority said on its website that the first earthquake measured 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale, and was about 197 kilometers northeast of the Sudanese city of Tokar.
